Party, Party, After Party

On Saturday night I had a choice of four different parties to attend. Sure it might sound a bit excessive but somehow it seems appropriate for summer time.

We (Roomie, Straight Gay Boyfriend and I) headed off to the first party around. It was great, a birthday party with burgers, cake, hula hooping and a surfing motif. I was there for about four hours, the other two party goers each took off for a bit to other parties, but I thought, no two parties would be enough for me. Besides I was just getting the hang of the hula hoop.

Around 9pm Roomie came back to pick me up and we headed home to drop off the car and go to the next party ( #2 for me and #3 for her). We rounded up SGB (also party #3 for him) and headed over to a huge gathering with DJs, fire spinners, drag queens and lip sinkers. There were over a hundred people, quite a site to see in my little neighbourhood. You may or man not remember that I vaguely mentioned this party in a post last summer http://thoughtsofasinglegirl.blogspot.com/2008/07/bad-blogger-very-bad-blogger.html where I was drunk in a hammock chair and made out with a guy that I can’t really remember, yeah, I am allllll class. Anyway the party was huge, Awesome joined our gang around 10:30pm – he too was party hoping, and I ran into the Grocer and other random neighbour hood friends. I even met a new boy.

I was wandering from the fire pit, through the dance floor towards the chill space, where my beer was, and I almost ran into a plastic saber worn by a cute boy. Having a flirtatious moment I told him he should put a sheath on that thing and he apologized and told me it was at home with a different pair of pants. So we chatted and flirted for a bit and then he said he had to go for a bit but would I hold his sword. Why not I thought, and so I carried it for a bit and then hid it in a tree. Around midnight the cops came to the property … something about noise by laws … so the party was forced to break up. I gave sword man back his saber and invited him back to our place, where apparently “two or three people” we coming by. Sadly sword man had a different after party to go to (there were apparently three or four that formed after the cops broke up the good time) so I gave him my number and we parted ways.

When Awesome and I arrived in the back yard there was a after party happening with a fire, booze and about 30 – 40 people. Having been up since 6:30am I can’t really claim to have taken full advantage of the after party opportunity. By around 2:30 I was done for the evening and headed off to bed. According to SGB the last of the partiers left the back yard a little after 5am. Glad I didn’t try to keep up until 5am but not bad for a Saturday night.

Not bad at all.

The Reason I Truly Love My Friend Mr. Awesome …

We can passionately make out for 45 minutes and then in a quiet moment he will grab my little dog and let him on the bed t o snuggle with us. We can giggle and tease each other and the dog and enjoy truly intimate moments together without strings, weirdness or expectation. Tomorrow we will email all day and Wednesday we will play wing man for one another. It is a wonderful and unique friendship that I cherish as much as I do some of my best girlfriends and gay boyfriends.

Shhh don’t tell him I think he is Awesome, cause it will either go to his head or make him think I am trying to be his girlfriend, and both of those things would be bad, very bad.

I do owe you all a post or two about what happened with the Green Grocer (the new guy I met a few weeks ago), soon I promise. But now I must go to bed … much to do tomorrow.

Duh!?!

Awesome and I were chatting on the weekend and he has decided to try online dating now that he is in a new city. He was asking me to help him come up with a good profile name. So we thought and we thought and we thought but we came up with nothing because he isn't really a nickname kind of guy.

It wasn't until 2 hours after the conversation that it hit me. Duh ... Mr. Awesome ...

Awesome Farewell Part 2

The morning after Awesome’s going away party I was lying in bed at about 8am trying to remember all the drinks I had consumed to best attack this hangover that was beginning to form when I got a text message from Awesome saying … I may have taken some liberties last night. Shocking, I thought, when I left last night you were making out on the dance floor. I texted back, then he texted, then I texted, and this went on until finally I just had to pick up the phone because my eyes couldn’t focus on my phone key pad.

He had been up since about 6:30 packing and now he was on his way to his parents place to drop stuff off. He didn’t really have much to say when I actually called, I think he just needed some distraction to help stay awake, and to keep him from freaking out too much about the packing, or the move. Once again we said goodbye and I decided another hour of sleep was in order before I could think about facing the day.

At 10am my head was still pounding by my need for water was greater than the need for sleep, and the dog’s need to pee trumped both my needs so I headed downstairs. I let the dog out and sipped on a pint of water. Within minutes Roomie was up and busting around the house. She managed to spill an entire jug of OJ and break 6 eggs, confirming that she was in about the same shape as I was.

I logged on to the computer and noticed that the ex-pat was online so I started grilling her about both her evening and her hang over. Both were fine but right now she was starving and wanted to talk about brunch not the evenings events. I was impressed that I could keep water down at that point but I figured I I would need to eat sometime and I like brunch so, why not. I was about to hop in the shower when I heard my cell phone beep from my bed. When I looked it was a message from Awesome saying my friend had accidently left all her cash at his place. He offered to give the money to his parents and they could give it to me, but I texted back and said I would be in the neighbourhood that afternoon, so I would come by his place and pick it up. Lord knows I didn’t need the awkward money exchange with his Mom at a later date.

After breakfast and some light window shopping I headed over to Awesome’s place to say, hi, pick up the cash and say goodbye for one FINAL time. I walked in and the place looked as I expected, almost everything was packed but the odds and ends we strewn all over the place making the place look like terribly messy. I offered to help, but was told there was no need, instead I should just have a beer. Why not, it could only help right? I sat for a bit drinking my beer and watching him flail about the apartment putting random things in boxes and Tupperware bins.

“Seriously, what can I do to help.” I finally said. “Um, I dunno, you don’t have to do anything.” “But I want to help, that is why I keep offering.” “Fine, If you really want to do something you could do up those dishes there” he said exasperated and had a swig of rev and then a slurp of Moccachino. And so it began, I washed the dishes and he continued to pack. Then I wiped the counters and he packed. Then we dusted the cupboard and emptied the fish tank and cleaned the bathroom and drank our drinks and talked about nothing for about three hours. We dropped of the last of his stuff at his folks and went back to his place to hang out and rest for a bit.

I noticed when we got back he seemed tense, so we talked about his stress and the flight and what was left to do. We laid down in his room for a bit and snuggled and chatted we might have made out for a while too. I knew I didn’t want to go, but at some point he was going to kick me out and do the last of his packing and, if he could say goodbye to the girl he has been casually seeing for a bit.

After about two hours of lounging in his room I finally said“You want me to go, so you can get everything done and freak out on your own don’t you?” as I laid my head on his chest. “Yeah, but I feel bad for asking you to leave because you have been helping all afternoon, but yeah, I really should get it done and then have a panic attack on my own.” “It’s fine I have to go to a party anyway. And you don’t have to drive me. I know there is more to do and the clock is ticking.” “Don’t be silly I would feel really bad if I didn’t drive you home. You helped me all afternoon. Come on let’s go.”

The drive home was pretty quiet and he tried to drop me off at the corner as he normally does but I wouldn’t allow it. It didn’t matter to me that he had to finish the last of his packing and cleaning he had to get out of the car and give me a hug and say goodbye. He looked at me like I was a bit crazy, but in he backed the car up, parked and came inside. Actually he ended up playing with the dog and chatting with Roomie and I for about 20 minutes. When it was finally time to go, he and roomie hugged and then she conveniently disappeared. I gave him and gave each other a peck goodbye and he was off. I didn’t sleep well that night, I was worried about him packing up and getting some sleep and flying to a faraway place, sort of like a big sister or mom would worry. In the morning he sent me a text from the airport telling me he was about to get on the plane.

Of all the men who have left me or I have left, I would have to say the saga of the Awesome goodbye, from the drinking to the packing to the text from the airport is how I hope everyone could have been, but up until then none ever have. Who would have imagined this little one night stand, two years later would fulfill my goodbye fantasies. Not me that’s for sure.

Goodbye Mr. Awesome, although I am sure you are not gone forever.

Awesome Farewell

On Friday I went out to Awesome’s farewell party. It was by all accounts an awesome affair.

We began at a martini bar trying some of the over 140 martinis available. There were about 12 or 14 of us, including Roomie, Awesome’s best friend and the newest member of my local circle of friends, a recent ex pat from the centre of the universe who likes to party – her nickname pending. She roomie and I were the only girls in this group of well wishers and that suited us just fine. I mean really, when do three women have the full attention of 8 – 10 boys around the age of 25. Not often enough I say. As the sun began to set we decided we wanted to go dancing, but first to a hotel bar … the very hotel Awesome and I once stayed in. But first we needed the bill.

I had arrived at about 6pm and it was now around 10pm, I had enjoyed two martinis and I was on my third or forth pint. Everyone else was in the same shape and most of us had also ordered food while we were there. I was a bit terrified to see this giant bill but thought, it is my last night to party with Awesome so if it costs me a bit of coin, so be it. The bill hit the table in your standard issue black padded envelop and I decided I would pick it up – as I really wanted to figure out if this was in fact my third or forth pint of the night. I opened it and to my surprise it read $0.00. Had the waitress made a mistake? Nope, one of the lovely you men at our table had very generously picked up the entire tab. Wow.

We moved on to the hotel bar where everyone enjoyed a fancy cocktail. I mean, why not our wallets were padded more than any of us had anticipated, so we could afford a $15.00 martini. Along with the martinis came a shooter of some unknown description. Can’t say I liked it but no worries, I was feeling no pain at this point anyway. The martini on the other hand was a fabulous. A raspberry vodka thing with a basil leaf in it. Mm mm good. At some point at the second bar I noticed the ex pat and Awesome doing some flirting. It probably started earlier, but I was enamored with a geeky cute programmer and couldn’t be bothered with anyone else’s flirtations.

As people started making noises about getting into the dance club I made my way over to ex pat and asked her if she was interested in Awesome. She very quickly said she wouldn’t, she knew who he is to me and wouldn’t want to come between he and I, and more importantly wouldn’t want him to come between her and I. “Really, do what you want. I have turned the man down like 100 times in the last 12 months. I don’t really have right to thwart his good time especially at his going away party.” She still didn’t seem entirely convinced but she went on flirting, as she should. We paid that bill after one round and headed to the club.

As soon as we were in the club I was told to order a round of shooters and a cocktail that Awesome would approve of. Alright seven liquid cocaines and seven rum and cokes please. Down went the shots and off we went with our drinks. I still can’t believe I was drinking rum and coke, I hate that stuff, but on with the story. Roomie, ex-pat and I started chatting with different folks and once again I assured her that a fling with Awesome was totally cool, and really it was his last night, she should go for it. About five minutes later ABF, Roomie and I looked across the bar to see ex-pat and Awesome making out. Like the mature folks we are we started hooting and hollering as though we were at a football game and once we were satisfied with ourselves we hit the dance floor.

Dancing was great and much smarter than pounding back any more shooters or cocktails I didn’t really enjoy. Although I vaguely remember drinking some of Roomie’s cider to quench my thirst later in the evening, ouch. At about 1:45 Roomie and I thought we had done all the damage we could possible do to our livers for one evening so we made our rounds and said our goodbyes. I hugged Awesome told him that I will miss him and then told him I loved him. He told me that he loved me too, I gave him a kiss and we headed out the door to find a cab. Drunk as we both were, I know we meant it. We do love each other and will miss all of our time together.

There is more to Awesome Farewell but it will have to wait as I am on holiday with the SSM right now so finding writing time is a bit challenging with all sex, eating, lounging and drinking we have to do.

Hope you all are having fun. Stay tuned for Awesome Farewell part two.

The End of an Era

Awesome is moving. He is going back to school and the acceptance was quick and now he is leaving at the end of the month. When he told me I was really happy for him, and I still am, but the more I think about it the more I realize what a big part of my daily life he is and I wonder how different my life is going to be without him around.

Today we had our last lunch together for a while. It is weird to think that I won’t have lunch with him every week and that he might not email every day twenty or thirty times. He is a strange force that Mr. Awesome, a total pig much of the time but inside there is a sweet shy man who I really like.

At the end of our lunch he walked me back to work just before we got to the doorway to my work he said he wait a second and he grabbed me and kissed me. And then walked into the office smiling like a Cheshire cat saying good afternoon to all my co-workers as though it was just another lunch.

Somehow, that interaction seems like just the right way for him and I to end our lunchtime ritual.

Cookies and other good things

Last night I went over to Awesome's to watch an episode of LOST that I had missed while visiting the SSM. In exchange for the episode Awesome wanted me to bake cookies. Given what I thought he was going to ask for in exchange for the show I was more than happy to bake some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. We watched LOST, then Battlestar Gallactica, then Family Guy and finally the Simpsons - there was a lot of dough to bake - and then he was getting tired and making noises like I should leave. Fine, I can take a hint so I headed on my way.

Walking out I couldn't find my cellphone. My pants pockets were empty, my jacket was empty so I started routing through my bag. Not in the front pockets, not in the pouch area at the front so I reached into the back. At the bottom of the bag under a bunch of old brochures and other various paper there was something hard I pulled it out thinking I had ound my cellphone, only to grab my long lost ipod. My ipod! I was so happy I almost forgot to continue to look for my cellphone. Which was in the main part of the bag, with my share of the cookies.

The ipod idate gave me died a few weeks ago and I was about to buy a new one with my tax return, but now I don't have to. What a good day.

The Circle is Complete

On Saturday Fireboy and Awesome finally met, now all of my boys have met each other. There isn’t much to tell about the actual introduction or beers that followed. They chatted about life, exchanged a few stories and generally kept it all light.

Now the circle of boys is complete. Each of them now have a face to put with the name of other men in my life.

There is more stories to tell from Fireboy’s visit but unfortunately I am off to the pub with GB and Roomie after a very long work day.

I will try to update you all tomorrow.

Let the Good Times Roll

Let me start by reassuring you all that I am fine. My trip to the hospital was a bit of a traumatic event, but now I am feeling pretty good – as long as I remember to take ibuprofen twice a day. I had a couple of calls and messages from people who were worried so I thought I would just reassure you all that TSG is still alive and kicking.

Now on with the stories …

This past weekend GB, Roomie, Awesome and I hit the town to attend a charity event that we managed to score free tickets to. The theme of the night was Sweet 70s and we all got dressed up. It was two floors of food, cheap martinis, dancing and a candy buffet. It was the fantasy everyone had as a kid, stick your hand in the jar and take as much as can fit in your pocket. We had candy sticks, rockets, tootsie rolls, pop rings, candy necklaces and coloured condoms (did I mention it was an AIDS charity event) until we just couldn’t fit anymore in our pockets. When there was no more room for candy, we hit the martini bar.

Late in the evening Awesome and I were watching the dance floor from the second level, armed with the courage of five martinis and a sugar high from all the candy I turned to him and said “you know, I really like hanging out with you and I am enjoying making out with you on occasion, but I don’t think we should have sex, again, ever.” “Umm, really? Why?” He asked, getting ready to find flaw in my argument. “Well” I began “We are really good friends, almost best friends, really. I think if we had sex, you would get weird and/or I would get weird and I am afraid that I would lose you and I don’t want that.” “Oh, yeah, you are right I would probably get weird. I do stuff like that.” And with that it was settled. So we made out for a bit to celebrate our new arrangement.

On Sunday the four of us met for Brunch, Beer and Boots. The pub was the first stop for some eggs and a crown float to start the day. Then off to the shoes store to look for some boots for the boys. I was very good and didn’t buy anything, mind you neither did the boys. After the failed shopping trip we left Awesome and GB, Roomie and I went to buy supplies for our dinner party – an Indian buffet feast. It was fantastic, 10 friends sitting around our living room enjoying lots of food, wine and good conversation. Everyone was out of the house by 10pm and the three of us did up all the dishes in under 30 minutes. Yeah team work!

It has been too long since I have had a weekend like this to report. It makes me happy to think things are getting back to normal around here. Events, parties, food, wine, martinis, boys, that, faithful readers, is how the single girl is suppose to be Keeping the Dream Alive.

Cheers Gang!

Thursday

I couldn't do it

I was over at Awesome’s place last night watching a movie and some Gamily Guy episodes, and some snuggling, which seems to be our new routine when I am at his place. And as is our custom after a bit he said “I should get you home” and I told him I drove GB’s car over because I had been running late. “Really!” he responded and immediately stood up and took off his pants. “Umm what are you doing? What does me driving have to do with you having or not having pants on?” I inquired. “Well … If I don’t have to drive you home I can just get ready for bed” He replied as he crawled back into his bed in his underwear and t-shirt pulling the covers up over both of us. (I was fully clothed BTW.)

So I stayed for a bit and we snuggled and kissed. When the kissing started to get a little more serious, I couldn’t do it. I asked him to stop and if we could take a breather. He got up and grab us some water and we lied around and enjoyed pillow talk as only he and I can – Terminator 2, weaponry and buying lasers online – and then I went home.

I could have stayed, I know he wouldn’t have minded. He told me what time the alarm was set for and when I asked if I needed a permit for the street he said “No. Why are you going to stay all night?” Oh that and he offered last time I was there.

I knew I wouldn’t sleep well as I have been too stressed at work and the sexual tension would have driven me over the edge. And actually having sex, would have driven me to tears, not because it would be bad, but just because I am over tired and pretty emotionally raw this week – not an ideal situation for casual sex. But most of all I don’t think I could be with him because I know that the SSM will be here in a few days, and it sort of feels wrong when I know he is on his way to see me.

Weird eh? Well maybe not, but it felt a bit weird at the time.

flying bullets

  • Fireboy made me an offer, if things go south with his best friend (the SSM) he would like to start a poly long distance relationship. Of course you would, I thought and left the offer on the table for another day. Turns out I am afraid of commitment, even a long distance poly commitment.
  • I told the SSM about my afternoon with Awesome - well I said I made out with a friend, but if he can't figure out who that would be, he needs his head examined. His response, lucky girl, and then he told me that he was really happy we could be honest with each other. Score one for Polyamory. Sweet!
  • Awesome and I have managed to have a normal week. Score one for making out without consequences. Super Sweet!
  • I Miss GB! Please come home, I need a pint.
  • Busy week at work. Huge gala event last night and I rocked it with a little black dress and stunning smoozing skills.
  • I got a rose, a virtual rose and a bottle of wine for VD day. Not bad for a girl who doesn't really celebrate the "holiday."
  • If OQB had a blog, I would tell you to all go there and wish him a Happy Birthday, but he doesn't, so if you want to leave your salutations here, feel free. I think he is turning 25 for the 7th time ;)

Happy Friday everyone!

A Little Confused

Last night I went over to Awesome’s house to watch a movie. This in itself is not that surprising as I often go over there to watch movies or play video games or watch him feed his snakes … but I digress. We watched the sci-fi movie and I struggled to stay awake – apparently the sub I had for dinner had strong sedative effects. After the movie was over he sat up looked at me then wrapped me in arms and said “How you doin there sleepy?” “Sleepy” I replied and then fell asleep on his chest with his arms wrapped around me for a little bit.

We didn’t say anything for about 30 minutes I just drifted in and out of consciousness as he caressed my back and ran his fingers through my hair. “Whatcha doin?” I asked at some point, feeling a bit confused by the whole thing because we never snuggle. “Nothin, can’t a guy be nice to his friend?” “Of course you can. It’s nice.” I replied and nuzzled back in for a few minutes. “I should get you home” he said in a really soft voice. “Yeah, probably. I guess that means I have to move doesn’t it?” He gently rolled me on to my back looked me in the eye and then kissed me on the lips and said “Kinda.”

Then he drove me home, I thanked him for the ride and said I will talk to you tomorrow.

What is with all the boys in my life right now? Is there something in the air? I am not complaining … just a little confused.

The return of the Vodka Source, the New Man and the Missing Piece of the Puzzle

Tonight I have a “date” with the Vodka Source. My evenings out with him have always proven to be alcohol fueled and full of fun. Tonight we are going to behave by seeing a play and not meeting for cocktails before. I have the gym in the morning so I am hoping that will be inspiration enough to stop me from having more than two drinks after the show. Sadly, I doubt it as we have been trying to get together for a date for over a month now. I think we will end up drinking and talking until quite late as we often do.

The new man is a man I have sort of known for a year or so through work circles but up until recently have never really talked to. A few weeks ago we were out with a large group and ended up sitting and drinking at the bar together while to a live band. We started talking about music and he ended up offering me his old ipod (because I lost mine over Christmas) and to make me a playlist of some of his favourite tunes. I still don’t have the ipod, or the playlist, but I think once I finally get them I will offer to take him for a beer to say thanks and to continue the conversation.

The Missing piece of the puzzle, that is a little more complicated than the other two. Back in the summer Mr. Awesome introduced me to one of his ex girlfriends and we ended up hitting it off and have sense become very good friends. We have lunches, dinners, drinks and sleepovers. We seem to always have things to say to one another and often end up talking for hours when we are only suppose to have one drink.

On New Year’s Eve she and I ended up snuggled up in front of the fireplace facing one another, holding hands and talking. Nothing happened but she and I are both very aware that there is a degree of tension between us. GB likes to call her my “girlfriend” and both of our mothers have pointed out that we have become fast fast friends. I don’t think anything would ultimately happen between us as neither one of us are really interested in girls, she is back together with her boyfriend and me, I have a small harem of men and boys on my mind, but it is a new thing for me, tension with a female friend.

I just thought you all should know that the SSM and Fireboy don’t take up all the room in my brain, there are a few other complications orbiting around right now as well.

Here’s hoping your mind is a bit less full my faithful readers.

BAD

I am getting a new computer at work so I have to go through the one I have now and clean up all my files i.e. my personal files on the work computer. In the process I have come across a few IM conversations with my friend J about the SSM over the course of the summer. It is both fascinating and heart breaking to read.

As early as July I knew I was falling for this guy, and as early as July I knew it wasn’t going to work out. So did J, and very clearly told me in every conversation that I needed to tell him how I felt and walk away before I got too hurt. Well, we know that I didn’t talk to him until the very end of the summer. And even then I just told him how I felt I didn’t really walk away. I think I am almost ready to walk away – but more on that another day.

Reading the IM chats makes me wish I did a better job of logging our summer adventures here on the blog. Then again it would just be one more thing read and obsess over. More importantly OQB would never rise the to ranks of most blogged about if I did that ;)

I think I need to have lunch with Awesome. No matter what is going on in my life, his life is invariably messier than mine. It is good for a little perspective and it is almost always funny – not funny ha ha, but funny living nightmare.

The Unholy Pentagon

It has come to my attention that I currently have five boyfriends – GB,OQB, Fireboy, Awesome, and the SSM. Each one of them hold a special place in my heart and my life. This might be oversimplified, but here is what each one of them bring to my life currently.

GB is my primary boyfriend (so to speak). He is my roommate and friend and we share everything from our daily minutia to our long term life plans.

OQB is my fabulous boyfriend. He and I share a party lifestyle and spend time dancing, talking about relationships and generally condemning the world to be less fabulous than we are.

Frieboy is my spiritual boyfriend. He and I spend our time together talking about how we feel and what we are trying to do with our lives and how, we can improve ourselves and our relationships.

Awesome is my bad boy boyfriend. Awesome and I spend our time talking about conspiracy theories, how the world sucks and everyone is out to get him and that there is no point in trying because it is all going to end in shit anyway.

The SSM is my ex boyfriend. He is the man who is teaching me what I want and deserve from a romantic partner.

Together they create my unholy pentagon.

Having realized this I think it is time to lose one or two of the boyfriends before a man in a red suit shows up at my door offering me a plumb job in hell.

Getting right to the heart of the matter

Taken from an IM conversation

Awesome: Well … I should go. I’m effing hungry.

TSG: K. You going to be okay?

Awesome: Yeah.

TSG: K. Go eat. I will talk to you tomorrow most likely. Before you go … tell me that it is a bad idea to talk to the SSM

Awesome: It is a bad idea to talk to the SSM.

Awesome: He wears silly pants.

Thursday

I can’t decide if this healthy

Earlier this week when Awesome and I were having lunch he informed me that we (He and I) should do one of those singles dating things.

“What are you talking about?” I inquired.
“You know one of those events where there are a bunch of single people in a room having drinks and getting to know each other. There is one this Thursday.”
“Ummm … I’m not really sure about that.”
“Yeah Thursday is too soon, but we should totally do it.”
“Yeah, Thursday is too soon, but that isn’t my only concern. Did you forget that I am six years older than you? Generally, these things have age groups put together. Check the appropriate age box. I have a feeling we wouldn’t be in the same dating box … so to speak.”
“Listen, let me worry about what box I go into …”
“Yeah, I will. And eww ... Why do I have a feeling this isn’t a good idea.”
“What are you talking about. This is a great idea!”
“I will think about it.”
“We are totally going to do this.”

So now I am left wondering, is our ability to go on a singles excursion where we look for possible mates a sign of a very healthy friendship, or SO healthy that it is unhealthy. I can’t tell anymore.

Either way I think it is good that I am willing to entertain going on a date, even if Awesome is there.

Patterns

After meeting the Lady and spending an evening in a small town with two wonderful women talking about life, love, religion, politics, etc. Fireboy was compelled to ask me about my patterns in dating as I drove him back to the city.

He wanted to know all about my dating past and patterns. Why did I date unavailable men and what I can do to consciously change as I move forward in the dating world. Maybe all I needed to do was think about what I was doing as I began dating someone new, or maybe try a dating service where I could meet single men in their 30s that are looking for a relationship now that they have established their careers.

Now, many many many people have tried to have this conversation with me. Most end up getting an earful from me essentially saying … don’t you think I would change these patterns if I could, or why do I have to be in a couple to be happy, or the classic, Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what to do in my dating life! But, as I was driving and knew that these words were somehow connected to his wonderful time in the small town and knowing that the reunion with the SSM was a short one, that he really does just want to see me happy and the fact that he had never tried to “convert” me to the couple way of life before I let him talk and didn’t say much at all.

I have now been home for almost three days and I have managed to slide back into all my old comfortable relationship patterns. Morning coffee with Roomie, emails and lunches with Awesome, two pints with GB, walking, coffee breaks with my favourite coworkers, emails with the Lady and so on. It is nice to be able to slide right back into my usual routine at home and at work, but it does get me to thinking I will continue with the dating pattern here at home? Unavailable men, blue eyed assholes, and so on. Probably, it is what I know and am as comfortable with that pattern as I am with the rest of them. I would hate to change any of my other patterns, so this bad one might just have to stick around for a while as I settle back into life.

Shh … don’t tell Fireboy.

ps. The regular pattern also includes more regular posting, so that's good.
